To project Et in Arcadia Ego ήταν μια παραγωγή της 2ης Μπιενάλε της Αθήνας το 2009 και πραγματοποιήθηκε στα πλαίσιά της 13 Ιουνίου - 28 Ιουνίου 2009 Ένας άλλος κήπος καλεί τους επισκέπτες του να γίνουν μέρος του.Ένα εικαστικό περιβάλλον, ένας τόπος συνεύρεσης, ενός εμμενούς πλέον «σκηνικού», που φιλοξενεί τη διαπραγμάτευση σχετικών με τον τίτλο ζητημάτων. Η Αρκαδία ως φαντασιακός εκείνος τόπος της ματαίωσης, που, μεταξύ άλλων, παραπέμπει στον -επίγειο και ταυτόχρονα μυθικό- παράδεισο, στον κήπο των ηδονών, στο στοχασμό πάνω στον θάνατο και την αιωνιότητα αλλά και σε ένα απροσδιόριστο αίσθημα φυγής. Η ομαδική μελέτη/έρευνα και η περιδιάβασή μας πάνω στο έργο του Poussin με τίτλο Et in Arcadia Ego, μας ωθεί να αναρωτηθούμε για θεματικές όπως φυσικός και τεχνητός παράδεισος, στάση και κίνηση, άνθιση ανθρώπων και τεχνητά φυτά, θάνατος και αιωνιότητα, ρίζωμα και πέρασμα, συλλογικότητα και κοινότητα. Ένας εφήμερος χώρος πύκνωσης και εστίασης, μετακινούμενος και διαφορετικός κάθε μέρα, που προϋποθέτει συνεργούς.

Schedule of discussions and actions Sunday, June 14, 2009, 20:00 Workshop of natural farming by Elias Vakis and Dimitris Desyllas (http://naturalfarming.eu). For the workshop of natural farming the audience and passers-by will be invited to participate wrapping seeds in pellets of clay soil. The Filopappou Group opens its work with this symbolic gesture, that concludes with a seeding in an area of 100sqm. The resulting garden will be a living sculpture that will flourish in the Palaio Faliro promenade.
Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:00 Performative workshop: ‘Between the ‘utopia’ as non-space and the ‘entopia’ as the space within. Ephemeral collective actions by Demosthenes Agrafiotis, performace artist. A series of actions involving the audience, aiming to show how the body is the foundation, the tool and the container of significance and pleasure. The people in the public will have to use their breath, the movements of their body, their imagination and skills to act and enact towards revealing the wonder and fragility of the body.

Saturday and Sunday 20 and June 21, 2009, 20:00 The group ‘Cyclists of Athens’ is initiating the construction of “hybrid” bikes. Alongside at the site of ‘Et in Arcadia ego’ there will be presented and available for promenade rides, bicycle constructions from the group ‘Rethymno Cyclists’.
Sunday, June 21, 2009 Performance: The First Delphic Hymn to Apollo by Joulia Strauss. In Julia Strauss words: ‘The anthem was written by Athenaeus to show the beauty of Greek music to the barbarian Romans. We killed a turtle, we created a lyre with sharp horns and we tuned it according to ancient Greek musical accords reconstructed on a computer generated program.’

Wednesday, June 24, 2009, 21:00 “Feminist Utopias” by Maria Gargaroni. Women acknowledging the dystopia conditions of their existence, they transcend it either by constructing ephemeral space or non-spaces of experimentation and freedom. A presentation in three parts: Dystopias: daily incidents of violence against women. Utopias: feminist science fiction stories. Heterotopias: Necessary escapes from the patriarchy.

Friday, June 26, 2009, 19:00-24:00 Poetica Residenza Arcadia / The Arcadia poetic residency - a workshop of words. Words meet people at the site of ‘Et in Arcadia Ego’ where a group of poets share with their audience their work or the new words that spring up inspired by their interaction. Experimenting with the spoken word and modifying the usual practices of reading poetry, documenting it with writings on the concrete walkway, with notes and scribbles passed around, stuck on benches, sewn into pillows or placed behind the announcement boards of the ‘Arcadia’ installation.
